Education System in Aruba - An Overview
Aruba is an island nation 27 kilometers away from Venezuela. Aruba along with the Netherlands, Curacao and Sint Maarten forms the Kingdom of the Netherlands. A 33 km long island, Aruba’s official languages are Dutch and Papiamento. The temperatures in the country varies from 28 degree Celsius to around 33 degree Celsius throughout the year.
The country of Aruba earns about three quarters of its GDP through tourism and related activities, with major tourists coming in from United States, the Netherlands and South-America, mainly Venezuela and Colombia.
Aruba's educational system is patterned after the Dutch system of education. There are 68 schools for primary education, 12 schools for secondary education, and 3 universities in Aruba. The study of Spanish, English, Dutch and French is offered in secondary school and college, since a high percentage of students continue their studies in Europe.
